The Fast franchise has its new villain for the eighth installment set to be released next year.
According to Variety, Charlize Theron has been in talks to join the cast as a new threat to the family.
Theron will be joining Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, and Jason Statham, who are expected to return in Fast 8.
The movie will be directed by F. Gary Gray, who directed Straight Outta Compton in 2015.
There has been little other information released on the film, so we don’t know what to expect. But if we taken in the trend that the movies have taken since their return with the fourth installment, we can expect a movie with bigger stakes and more outrageous stunts than the previous one.
There is still so much uncertainty as to how they will move on to make the movie bigger than the seventh film, which was one of the biggest box office hits of 2015, and moving on without one of its biggest cast members. It’s still difficult to even imagine the series going on without Paul Walker. I am looking forward to seeing what Charlize Theron is going to bring to the series, and what kind of havoc she will be creating.
Also, knowing that Jason Statham is returning, it will be interesting to see how they will mesh together. Last we saw of him, he was being put into prison but in this series people have a habit of not staying incarcerated. I am curious if they are going to be working together or if they will pose as two separate threats.
It will be interesting to see how they are going to work in racing scenes through the busy streets of New York. I can’t wait to see what kind of crazy stunts they can come up with next.
Fast 8 is expected to hit theaters April 17, 2017.
