Everyone’s favorite fairytale show is going very dark soon as the gang Storybrooke is headed to the Underworld.

Yes, we are talking about the Underworld from Greek Mythology, which means one very sarcastic and devious Greek God will be shortly his appearance. His appearance will also mark quite the milestone for the show as well.

For Once Upon a Time’s 100th episode, the series’ heroes and villains are hell bound and waiting for them in the underworld,  is a new big bad, otherwise known as, Hades. The God of the underworld will be played by none other than Ally Macbeal alum Greg Germann.

While hell for most is other people, for the heroes and villains of Once Upon A Time, hell resembles a twisted version of Storybrooke, with Hades in charge.

Germann recently spoke about his character and how jazzed he was to be joining the show. “Hades is such a fun, endlessly creative challenge,” Germann shared. “Anything goes. The creators bring him to life on the page with the same out-of-the-box unpredictability that they bring to the rest of the show. They strike the perfect balance between keeping things grounded and letting things fly — sometimes literally.”

The show’s executive producer Edward Kitsis also teased what kind of chaos Hades will be bringing with him and what viewers can expect. “Hades is a very dangerous fellow, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun being the Devil,” Kitsis shared.

Hades seems to relish torturing the souls currently trapped in hell, which now include Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) after he sacrificed himself in the midseason finale. It is the swashbuckler that the show’s heroes have come to rescue.
The trip to hell and back will be unsurprisingly difficult. “When you go to a place that’s surrounded by death and you think you can get out, maybe that’s not so easy,” teased Kitsis.

Apparently, everyone’s pasts will come back to haunt them.  Past characters  like Cora (Barbara Hershey), Peter Pan (Robbie Kay) and Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit) are all set to return for this story arc.

Germann has some big shoes to fill as far as taking on the role of Hades is concerned. James Woods’ portrayal as the villain in the Disney film has made him a fan favorite.

Catch Germann as Hades when Once Upon A Time returns on March 6th.
