Don’t Call Her Princess: First Powerpuff Girls Revival Clip Shows Buttercup At Her Best

The Powerpuff Girls was a pretty badass cartoon for those of us grew up in the late 90’s-early 00’s.

Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup were three little girls who just wanted to help people in the city of Townsville. Their world was colorful. The supporting characters were memorable from their father, Professor Utonium, to the childlike Mayor to the competent Miss Bellum.

Do I even need to bring up the villains? The show had some of the most imaginative villains out there from Mojo Jojo, HIM, the Rowdyruff Boys, Femme Fatale, and more. Powerpuff Girls was wildly imaginative, wildly creative, and just wild at times.

It was an awesome show that I still remember fondly to this day.

In 2016, a revived version of The Powerpuff Girls will be aired on Cartoon Network. With some minor redesigns (shown above) to the characters along with new voice actors (Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides) brought on to voice the girls.

TVLine dropped a new clip from the revived show today.

Oh! It took me waaaay back.

The clip shows a “manly” new villain wanting to get Townsville back to its manly roots. (Is it me or does he kind of sound like the narrator from the old show a little bit?) The girls, of course, are ready to stop him especially Buttercup (Natalie Palamides).

Just, y’know, don’t be a misogynist to her and call her “princess” like this dastardly villain. He’s about to learn why you do not get these girls angry. At all.

Was the “you throw like a girl” supposed to be an insult? I wish I could throw like Buttercup.

I dig the classic vibe that the reboot is throwing off. Although the new voices will take some time for fans of the original show to get used to.

The Powerpuff Girls will premiere sometime in 2016.
