From the man that gave us the greatness that is the Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), as well as the perfection of Scott Pilgrim vs the World, comes to you a new crime thriller that promises lots of action and generous amounts of humour: Baby Driver.

Edgar Wright’s new project already has Ansel Elgort on board as the lead character, as well as Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm (yes, yes, yes), Jamie Foxx, and now a new talent has joined the fun: Eiza González.

The From Dusk Till Dawn actress has officially joined the cast of Baby Driver, and personally, I couldn’t be more excited. In fact, I feel like a proud mother – we share a place of birth, and she has come a long way.

Baby Driver follows a near mute getaway driver with an ear condition (played by Ansel Elgort) who relies on the beat of his soundtrack to drown out the constant ringing in his ears. The driver, appropriately named ‘Baby’ (due to his youthful face, of course), works for different bank robbers. One bad day, a robbery goes wrong and he sees himself involved in the mess. It has been described as a “collision of crime, action, music, and sound”.

González will play one of the bank robbers and the girlfriend of Jon Hamm’s character – who happens to play a vicious killer. This pleases me.

Aside from the From Dusk Till Dawn series (which I totally recommend, in case you haven’t watched it yet), Eiza González appeared in Jem and the Holograms. She also has had many other roles back in México. Believe me when I tell you she has come a long way and I couldn’t be more proud. This is a huge step and I am happy to see her succeeding.

With Edgar Wright back on Twitter, and the recent revelation that he has been on Instagram and we had no idea (sneaky man, I love you), we are keeping our eyes open for more details. Our eyes are peeled even more so because the release date is said to be March 17, 2017. This means they should be working in pre-production right now and shooting should start early next year.

We will keep you poster on further details, you have my word.
