There has been talk of a movie based on Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft world for quite some time now. And now it is finally happening. Now the poster has been released for the film ahead of the trailer, which is going to be shown at BlizzCon on Friday, November 6.
The poster features the main characters; Orgrim, played by Robert Kazinsky, in red, and Anduin Lothar, played by Travis Fimmel, in blue, separated by the Dragon Sword.
The movie is based on the Warcraft world and takes place in Azeroth. It takes place during the first encounters between the humans and the orcs throughout different settings that will be familiar to the game players. There is a hint that this could be just the beginning of a series of movies, but there isn’t anything definite to confirm yet.
As a former player of World of Warcraft (For the horde!) I have been waiting for this movie since it was announced it was in the works many years ago. I am a fan of Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok in History Channel’s Vikings, so I was excited to hear that he was going to be a part of this movie. It is hard to even imagine this movie happening before now though. We have come so far with technology. If this movie would have happened when it was originally supposed to I don’t think it would look nearly as good as it does so far from the pictures that have been shared. We have waited a long time and hopefully it will be worth it.
BlizzCon is being held at the weekend, so I am sure we are going to get some more information and teasers on the movie as well as the trailer, so be looking out for that.
The Universal movie is directed by Duncan Jones. It also stars Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominc Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, and Daniel Wu.
The movie hits theaters June 10, 2016.
