Jeffrey Dean Morgan is joining the cast of The Walking Dead and I can’t be more excited about this news.
He is cast to play villain Negan, who is present in the comic book series. This brutal villain has been anticipated by fans of the comics. TVLine confirmed that Morgan will play “one of the Biggest Bads of the ’em all.”
Morgan will join the cast in the latter half of the sixth season that will air in 2016 and will potentially be bumped up to series regular in the recently announced seventh season. This means that he will be around for a long time, and with such a bad character we can anticipate some very stressful episodes of The Walking Dead to come.
For show fans like me who haven’t read the comics yet, Negan is the violent leader of a group known as the Saviors who use force to dominate anyone who stands in their way.
They don’t sound much like saviors to me, so it will be interesting to see just what they stand for in this zombie apocalypse. It is also becoming apparent to not trust anything that has a title. We have had The Governor and Woodbury, the Wolves, Terminus, and now the Saviors. They have all been bad with dangerous people that usually lead to a downfall for some of the members of our group.
But what will the Saviors mean to our current survivors?
Currently in the show Glenn’s fate is still up in the air, but in the comic Negan is responsible for the death of Glenn with a baseball bat wrapped with barbed wire.
So could they bring back Glenn only to send him to his actual death through Negan? I sure hope not because after watching him maybe die once, I don’t want to see him die again so soon.
It’s going to be a while before we get over that one.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is currently on the The Good Wife on CBS.
The Walking Dead airs on AMC on Sunday nights and on Monday nights on FOX in the UK.
