Every year, at Thanksgiving dinner my family goes around the table and says one thing they’re grateful for. Well, here are five things I probably can’t say I am grateful for at the dinner table, but can definitely admit to loving on 4YE.

1. The fact that Oscar Isaac looks good with literally any amount of facial hair.

Full-beard, stubble, mustache, clean-shaven, and any combination of head hair; shaved, slicked back, and curly — he looks good in it all. This is literally a huge accomplishment! What are his secrets?

2. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Twitter.

Genius performer, writer, and singer. He has an impressive resume, but really I love this guy because of posts like this:

He’s like a little ray of sunshine on my feed every day. Go follow him and find out!

3. Recapping Kingdom

It’s true: I’m your friendly neighborhood Kingdom re-capper, alongside Sneh Rupra.

I’ll be honest and tell you why I started watching this show: it’s because it’s about a bunch of buff guys taking their shirts off. But, now that we’re about halfway through season 2, I have to admit it — this show is intense. It’s awesome. There are twists, turns, a kick-ass lady fighters, and plenty of Frank Grillo. I have come to truly care about these characters, and I’m psyched every week to recap it.

4. The Captain America: Civil War trailer.

Look, we all knew this was going to make the list. Having a week off to write term papers and eat turkey with my family is great, but nothing is better than this gif. of Steve Rogers tentatively scotch-taping his heart back together.

This is the face I make when I see my BFF too, except my BFF isn’t a musclebound man with a metal arm. My BFF is Thanksgiving dessert.

“Cranberry sauce. Do you remember me?”

5. The advent of lady superhero shows.

You want a Cold War dramedy? Agent Carter is the place for you. Need something a little more appropriate for the little ones? Melissa Benoist is adorable and an awesome role model on Supergirl. How about a dark and gritty look at the effects of trauma in the underbelly of New York? Jessica Jones is an R-rated hit that will have you triple-checking the locks on your doors.

If you had told me when I was a kid that 2015 would be the year of the lady superheroes, I wouldn’t have believed you for a minute. But here we are, and it’s amazing.
