Who doesn’t love Legally Blonde?
While on the surface, the movie may seem kind of silly: a stereotypical “blonde” going to Harvard Law School. The resulting film is an interesting and funny look at cultural stereotypes, gender dynamics, and things going deeper than the surface level.
It’s funny and beloved enough to get a sequel (which focuses on similar messages plus that DC needs to totally lighten up) and a musical (which is just amazing). There was also a straight-to-video sequel, but I cannot vouch for how good it is.
The franchise of Legally Blonde just wants everyone to be themselves because sooner or later, people will appreciate your and your talents. Also a really good deep cleansing facial once in awhile never killed anyone.
Both are sound advice.
Ever since Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde was released in 2003, people have been curious about the possibility of a sequel. Especially since there was an ending scene where Elle hinted at presidential aspirations. Of course in the resulting 12 years, fans haven’t heard a peep about it.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Reese Witherspoon thinks the world is ready for Legally Blonde 3!
Can I just say? Yaaaaaaaaaas.
Witherspoon appeared on Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe and said, “A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it.”
Given the current political climate in the US, where Hilary Clinton has a real chance for the Democratic nomination as a presidential candidate, Witherspoon said: “I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women.”
And she had some ideas about where Elle’s career would be going about now!
“And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office,” she shared.
Reese is ready. The world is ready. Hollywood get on this!
