Her Universe is at the forefront of geek fashion, and founder Ashley Eckstein definitely knows her audience and consumers well.

Her Universe was launched in 2010 by Eckstein and The Araca Group, a leading theatrical production and brand management company. Ashley and Araca created Her Universe to address the expanding market of female sci-fi and fantasy fans. Beginning with a license for Star Wars, the company has since released fashion collections for Marvel, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Studio Ghibli, Syfy, The Walking Dead, Nerdist Industries, and Transformers.

Eckstein hosted a special panel at New York Comic Con called “Calling All Aspiring Writers! Hear Big News From Her Universe and Get Expert Advice to Become a Published Writer.”

The title caught many fans offguard since it wasn’t fashion related but there was a really amazing reason for that: Her Universe is going into publishing! Eckstein shared with the jam-packed room that Her Universe Press is officially a go!

Eckstein explained that for years at conventions, she would go home at the end of the day with tons of books and manuscripts from fans wanting her to read their material as they couldn’t find anyone to publish their work. Eckstein always kept the thought of finding a way to help these writers out at the back of her mind, and now she’s making it a reality.

Her Universe is partnering up with Permuted Press, an industry-leading independent publisher of sci-fi, fantasy, post-apocalyptic and horror fiction. The new partnership, aptly titled Her Universe Press, launched its official site today, and is currently accepting submissions. What Eckstein and company hope to accomplish is to provide an opportunity for new and aspiring female writers to have their voices heard and to see their work professionally published.

Her Universe Press has two novels in the works and set for publishing, The Confidence Chronicles by Anne Convery and Weirdest by Heather Nuhfer. The company will be looking at both fiction and non fiction works and is looking to establish a foothold in the YA and Tween demographic. Aspiring writers can submit their works at the website starting now.

Congrats to Ashley Eckstein and Her Universe on this amazing new project! The two novels in the works are set for release sometime in 2016.
