So, who is excited for Disney’s newest princess Moana? Because I am jumping off the walls and screaming into the void like the excited 5-year-old I actually am. I mean she looks like a total bad-ass, right?
Plus, every girl in existence, at one point or another, has wanted to be a Disney Princess and Auli’i Cravalho, the 14-year-old from Oahu, Hawaii is living that dream (Congrats girl!). Cravalho will be playing the voice of Moana as she goes on her quest to find the long-lost island that can connect her to her ancestors.
Cravalho told People, ““From baby time to now, I wanted to be a Disney princess, and then I wanted to be a singer or an actress,” and it seems that she will be living her dream!
Cravalho caught the attention of Oahu casting directors while singing at a charity competition, and she will be starring opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who will be voice demigod, Maui.
I am so psyched right now, I am jumping out of my seat (which you cannot currently see, but I am).
Cravalho continued, “Moana is such an amazing character. She’s brave, she is so empowered, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it, and I think that’s something that I can relate to as well. I just love watching how she goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way.”
I am so excited for this movie (if you can’t tell already), and I believe it will be a huge contribution to the Disney cinematic universe. We’ve been needing another strong princess in the Disney universe. I am extremely excited to see where this goes.
The film will be released in theaters November 23, 2016, and it is already getting a ton of buzz.
