We all agree that Ant-Man was the big surprise of the year, right? Good.

Ant-Man went through some serious obstacles just days before production started and went through some changes that made us lose faith in it way before the movie came out. Then, in July, it came to kick our butts and shut us up with its greatness.

Its success was such that Marvel already announced a sequel, scheduled for 2018: Ant-Man and the Wasp. Because everyone loved Ant-Man but the real gift was Hope Van Dyne aka the Wasp (honestly, guys).

And who could be in charge of directing the sequel? Well, why not the man who saved Ant-Man’s honour with the first movie?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peyton Reed is in talks to come back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to make Ant-Man and the Wasp happen. All the yes.

Having Peyton Reed back is not only a safe choice, as after what we saw in Ant-Man we all know he is quality guarantee, but also a wise one; Reed knows his ways through comedy perfectly (um, hello, Bring It On! A gem from the early 2000s). He proved that he also knows how to make an action movie with comedy without the heroes looking foolish.

As much as I am happy about the huge possibility of having Peyton Reed back for the sequel, I am especially curious and, honestly, concerned about who will be in charge of the script. I don’t want to re-open old wounds, but Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish were the ones behind big part of Ant-Man‘s magic…and we can be sure they won’t be back. Adam McKay and Paul Rudd re-wrote the original script. We will have to wait and see if they will be the ones to come up with the idea for the sequel.

In order to make way for Ant-Man and the Wasp (it’s a long title but I very much rather write it all than Ant-Man 2. Because Wasp!), Marvel pushed back Captain Marvel from November 2nd, 2018 to March 8th, 2019, and Black Panther was moved up from July 6th, 2018 to February 16th, 2018.

Just a quick reminder of what’s going on in Phase Three.

Keep checking the site for more information about Ant-Man and the Wasp! You can be sure we will let you know when Marvel officially announces who will be in charge of it (cough, Peyton Reed, please, cough).
