Broadway lovers, rejoice!
You can already prepare yourselves for the Tony Awards next year. Better dressed for the hot weather though for they are airing on June 5th.
The announcement was made earlier this week by Les Moonves, according to Deadline. Also officially confirmed was the channel set to broadcast the epic award show. CBS is set to telecast the kudocast once more, continue its tradition of airing the awards. It has held the honor since 1978.
The Tony Awards celebrate the best in the Great White Way has to offer every year. For those who cannot not make the trip out to NYC to see live theater, the show has help those Broadway fans live vicariously through the experience without leaving their homes.
The Tony Awards were hosted by Tony Winners Alan Cumming and Kristen Chenoweth, who received rave reviews for their hosting skills. Previous hosts have included Neil Patrick Harris and Hugh Jackman. No host for next year’s show has been announced yet.
Perhaps they’ll go with a newbie in the hosting department (Darren Criss does a good job, hint hint).
Shows from the 2015-2016 Broadway season will be eligible for the nominations as long as they are on prior to April 26, 2016.
Nominations for next year’s awards are slated to be announced on April 29th.
