Rumour Alert: Hayden Christensen Could Appear In Star Wars: Episode VIII

Whether you like it or not, Hayden Christensen played the main role in two of the Star Wars prequels, and we can’t change that. He played Anakin Skywalker on Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and even wore the Darth Vader suit for a few minutes at the end of Episode III.

Come on, guys; yes, the prequels were pretty bad, but Episode III is the best of the three, and Hayden Christensen wasn’t bad as Anakin/Darth Vader… but adding him at the end of Return of the Jedi wasn’t the best idea.

Anyway, with a new trilogy on the works and the first of those movies coming out in December, rumours and theories are at their peak right now. Some of them are really good, some others are plain ridiculous, but this one right here has us in a mixture of “what?!” and “how the hell?!”.

Here’s the thing: according to Making Star Wars, Hayden Christensen is making an appearance in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII. Yes, yes, I know: how is that possible if Darth Vader is more than dead?! Well, the galaxy works in mysterious ways.

“A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort”, Making Star Wars shares.

“Training” sounds like more than just a flashback appearance, which is the first thing that normally comes to our minds with a character that is already dead. As points out, good ol’ Anakin/Darth Vader could be resurrected, either from the dead or as a clone, by Kylo Ren, who we know is a big fan of his.

Although this is just a rumour, it fits very well with the on-going theory of how Darth Vader could be the big surprise in The Force Awakens (this theory has been ignited by Vader being in ads for Episode VII and even having a toy in the new action figure line). Supposing this turns out to be true, he will have the road open to appear in Episode VIII. And, let me tell you, I’m all about having Hayden Christensen back on the big screen.

To make things more exciting and confusing, another rumour says that Darth Vader will make an appearance in Star Wars: Rogue One, which is 100% reasonable because it’s all about a group of rebels who plan to steal the plans of the Death Star. Could Hayden Christensen be playing Vader once more for this first spinoff?

And that’s your dose of juicy Star Wars rumours. Honestly, a part of me wants them to be true because Hayden Christensen was the very first actor I fangirled over (no shame. No shame!), but another part of me is like “leave the new trilogy free of anything that comes from the prequels, please”. I’m having a lot of mixed and confused feelings.

What do you think? Would you like to see Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader once more? Or just Darth Vader? Or none? (Outrageous! Of course you want Darth Vader!). Share your thoughts!

Star Wars: Episode VIII is scheduled for a May 26, 2017 release, and Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will be out on December 16, 2016.
