No Grocery Stores?! Robert Pattinson Says Twilight Fame “Drove Him Crazy”

Robert Pattinson’s come clean about his true feelings on the fame The Twilight Saga brought him – and it isn’t pretty!

Speaking to NME magazine, Pattinson opened up about his discomfort with shooting to the top and becoming such a famous and recognisable person, as well as issues with the paparazzi.

“I had people sitting outside my house every single day, and it drove me crazy,” he said. “I didn’t go into a supermarket for about six years.”

“But now I can go in and chat to the guy who’s working there about his kids or where he’s going on holiday, and not be thinking, ‘Is he gonna sell me out?'”, he continued.”I just don’t have to think about that stuff anymore.”

As fans, most of us are probably a little embarrassed to admit our Twilight phases, but there’s no pretending they didn’t happen! The actors certainly can’t forget the sheer hysteria surrounding the franchise!

Kristen Stewart, who played Bella Swan opposite Pattinson’s Edward Cullen, said in a recent interview with Interview Magazine that, despite understanding people not liking the movies, she’s still proud of them.

“Anybody who wants to talk shit about Twilight, I completely get it, but there’s something there that I’m endlessly, and to this day, fucking proud of.”, said Stewart.

Having said that, both Stewart and Pattinson have stayed out of big-budget, pop-culture cinema, with Stewart starring in Still Alice and On The Road, and Pattinson in the likes of Water For Elephants.

Pattinson’s latest project is, ironically, very linked to the paparazzi – a James Dean biopic called Life, where he stars as photographer Dennis Stock opposite Dane Dehaan’s (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Kill Your Darlings) James Dean.

On the subject of paps, Pattinson said “the most embarrassing photo that can ever be taken of you is when you’re in a bookshop, and everyone can see what book you’re buying”.

“They might as well just take a picture of me having a wank.” Stay classy, Rob!

Life is out in UK cinemas today, Sept 25th. Watch the trailer below!
