It’s about time Game of Thrones fans used more than the state of Kit Harington’s hair to try to divine what’s to come on the show’s upcoming season, and so they have! Sources have reported, and HBO confirms , that the hit show has cast a major player for its upcoming season. The infamous Kingsmoot scene is being filmed this week in Ballintoy Harbour, where sources from The Watcher on the Wall were able to determine the new character is, in fact a new face from a family we haven’t seen much of in a while, the Greyjoys! Euron Greyjoy, who is Theon and Asha’s uncle, is being played by Danish actor Pilou Asbæk.

If you’re looking forward to getting a new fave, I’m sorry to tell you, it probably won’t be this guy – unless, you know, you’re a huge fan of the way characters like Ramsay Bolton treat people! If you think you know just how ruthless the Greyjoys, and the Iron-Born in general are; you have no idea. Game of Thrones showed us a glimpse of it in the very beginning of the show, when Theon returned “home” to the Iron Islands only to be verbally abused by his father, Balon. Believe it or not, this barely scratches the surface of what constitute Greyjoy family values.

Euron himself is a bastion of Iron-Born principles; which basically means he’s a shrewd and sadistic warrior. As a matter of fact, he is the captain of a ship manned by men whose tongues Euron personally ripped out. As if that’s not creepy enough, he named his ship Silence. Euron was so cutthroat that he was exiled from the Iron Islands for years, during which he and his men sailed all over the known world, raping and pillaging as they went.  Now, this being Game of Thrones, even fans of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books can’t be totally sure what we’ll be seeing from Euron Greyjoy. As the show has gone on, characters have been cut out, re-named, invented, killed off, and combined with other characters. Odds are, Weiss and Benioff have actually found ways to make Euron Greyjoy even more deranged. I can’t wait!

Asbæk joins Iain McShane and Max Von Sydow as the new faces of Westeros this coming season. McShane’s role is still being kept under wraps, but we know Von Sydow will be playing Bran Stark’s mentor, the Three Eyed Raven.
