Team Scorsese-DiCaprio is back in action for a project that has been in the works for more than a decade.

Deadline reports that Leonardo DiCaprio will star in The Devil in the White City, directed by Martin Scorsese. It’s based on the book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson, which is set against the backdrop of the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. It tells the intertwining stories of architect Daniel H. Burnham and H.H Holmes. This last one murdered between 27 and 200 people, and used a hotel he built near the fairgrounds to attract his victims, especially young single women.

Quite creepy, dark and mysterious. Sounds perfect for the Scorsese-DiCaprio winning combo.

As mentioned above, the adaptation has been in the works for years; it was first put in development by Tom Cruise (yeah, I know!) and Paula Wagner, but it all ended in 2004. In 2007, Paramount got the rights for the film back and set it up with producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher (Pulp Fiction).

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are one of the best director-actor duos of the present day. This new movie will be their sixth as they have previously worked together in Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street.

The script for The Devil in the White City will be written by Billy Ray (The Hunger Games). DiCaprio and his Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson will serve as producers, along with Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn, Emma Koskoff and Martin Scorsese.

This team and concept: I like!

I am a sucker for Scorsese’s movies (Goodfellas forever and ever until the end of times) (but Taxi Driver, though), and I truly love this magical team with Leonardo DiCaprio (The Departed all the way!). But I’m also a sucker for stories about serial killers so colour me excited for this movie!

We will keep you posted on all the details regarding this movie. Meanwhile, how about a marathon of the movies of this winning pair? Yes or yes? I say yes.
