I know we are really excited about Suicide Squad because, let’s face it, it’s shaping up to be an amazing film. And we are one step closer to getting to see the film as principal photography for the film ended on Friday (August 28), and of course the cast and crew commemorated the occasion with an epic group photo.
The photo was released through director David Ayer’s Twitter page along with the tweet, “It’s a wrap folks! #SuicideSquad #WarnerBros #DCcomics.” In the photo, you can see what a huge cast and crew this movie has and it personally just makes me more excited about this movie. Then again, I’m pretty excited about this movie ever since I saw Jared Leto as the Joker.
Speaking of the green-haired one, Leto is missing from the group photo, but he did post his own goodbye photo for the film as he uploaded an image onto Instagram, showing a “close up of several clipped pieces of the actor’s green hair.” The caption underneath the image simply said, “Goodbye” with a string of green emoji characters. Well if you’re going to go with a colour theme for your post, you might as well go all the way right??
Aside from the absence of Jared Leto, you can see other cast members in their Suicide Squad costumes, including Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Not to mention Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is kind of hard to see in the image, but trust me she is there. Mind you I have spent a bit of time looking at the picture, but like I said I’m really excited about this film! And why is this? Because it doesn’t really feel like your typical superhero film, they are villains after all, and Will Smith said that, “We are banging out something that is absolutely fantastic”, at San Diego Comic Con this year. According to Digital Spy, “Suicide Squad will directly follow the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in setting up further DC films,” so there is a lot of pressure for Suicide Squad to be successful, which is probably why there is so much hype building about this film.
But we’ll have to wait until the film hits theaters on August 5th, 2016 to see if it truly lives up to the amazing hype behind it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t disappoint!
