You can know everything is well in the world when there’s going to be a sci-fi love story with Gary Oldman in it.

Variety reports that living legend Gary Oldman has joined STX Entertainment’s intergalactic love story, along with Carla Gugino, Britt Robertson and Asa Butterfield. The movie doesn’t have a title yet but it will be directed by Peter Chelsom (Hector and the Search for Happiness) with a script written by Allan Loeb (Rock of Ages), based on a short story he wrote with Richard Lewis and Stewart Schill.

If you are a sci-fi lover who is also a sucker for love stories, you will definitely love the premise of this movie.

During a mission to colonize Mars, led by a billionaire entrepreneur, a female astronaut is found to be pregnant. After dying during childbirth, her son is raised in secrecy on Mars. Fast forward sixteen years later, the boy (Asa Butterfield) begins an online romance with a girl living in Colorado (Britt Robertson). He decides to travel across the universe to find her, even if Earth’s gravity threatens his existence. But finding her is not the only part of the plan: he also wants to find the billionaire who started it all in hopes of uncovering information about his mother and the strange circumstances surrounding how he came into existence.

So, it’s a movie set in space, with love as the main theme and Gary Oldman is in it. I’m so in, give me this movie!

“The film has a completely authentic voice and the kinds of nuanced characters who are distinctive and truly memorable. We were drawn in by this story and its universal themes of longing for community and love”, STX’s Adam Fogelson said.

We recently saw Oldman in the British-American mystery thriller Child 44, alongside Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace. We will see him again later this year next to Shia LaBeouf and Kate Mare in the post-apocalyptic war thriller Man Down, and early next year in Criminal with Kevin Costner and Gal Gadot.

Carla Gugino had a role in the series Wayward Pines with Matt Dillon and we saw her recently in the disaster film San Andreas, next to Dwayne Johnson. As for Britt Robertson, she recently starred in Tomorrowland and had a main role in the series Under the Dome.

This movie sounds so good already; not only is it a smart combination of a few of my favourite things (like science fiction and romance) but also Gary Oldman is in it. There can never be enough Gary Oldman!

We will keep you posted on further details regarding this movie.
