Hello, friends!

Today, Lionsgate released the first full length trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part Two.

First, please watch the amazingness.

Now, let’s discuss. Spoilers ahead, because the book came out in 2010. If you have not read the book yet, please stop reading this and go read the book before you see the movie. I promise you will not regret it.

There is so much happening here! Oh my goodness, where do we begin? Let’s start at the very beginning.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from President Snow (Donald Sutherland), telling Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) how the ‘games’ are finally coming to an end. Am I the only one who gets the chills/creeps when Sutherland does that evil voice?

Director Francis Lawrence gives us a peek at many of our favorite characters throughout the trailer, including Effie (Elizabeth Banks), Plutarch (Philip Seymour Hoffman), and my personal favorite, Haymitch (Woody Harrelson). We also get an awesome look at Commander Paylor (Patina Miller) and the scenery throughout the districts and the Capitol.

A large focus in this trailer is (obviously) the final battle with the Capitol, and fans got their first glance at the super-cool, huge hologram of the Capitol. Referred to as the ‘holo’ in the books, the 3-D map shows the Capitol above and below ground, including all the fatal booby traps Snow set to deter the rebels.

The image is what leads Finnick (Sam Claflin) to finally say, “Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games,” which is probably in my top ten favorite lines from the book series. I mean, haven’t these people been through enough?

The second half of the trailer shows a lot of blips of the underground scenes, including one of handcuffed Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) trudging through the sewer, as well as a semi-clear-headed Peeta giving Katniss a pep talk. Gale (Liam Hemsworth) is also there, doing his best to win the war. Wait, did I forget to mention Finnick and Squad 451 fighting off giant lizard mutts in the sewer? TOO SOON.

The final thirty seconds is a montage of clips from the battles, showing lots of destruction, and even some firebombs falling into the square. ALSO TOO SOON.

I can’t complain too much, though, because we also get a super awesome glimpse at Tigris, a shot of Johanna (Jena Malone), and an almost-kiss in the sewers from one my favorite couples ever.

Possibly the best part of this trailer is Katniss’ lines that can be heard over the action. “Tonight, turn your weapons to the Capitol. Turn your weapons to Snow!” Jennifer Lawrence is such a darn good Katniss that sometimes I don’t know how to deal with it.

Some of the material throughout the trailer has been recycled from the initial teaser trailer, such as Finnick and Annie’s wedding, as well as promotional posters, so not everything we see is brand new. However, seeing it all put together has been simply amazing.

Overall, this trailer was visually stunning. The effects are better than anything we have seen from this series so far, and I can only imagine what the movie will look like if this is just the trailer.

Francis Lawrence has taken his responsibility very seriously, and I know that fans will not be disappointed. Between him and producer Nina Jacobson, this movie has been in great hands from the start. They have made a genuine effort to bring these fantastic characters to life in a way that is authentic and true to the books. They have also given fans a larger view of Panem, not just the one Katniss sees, which makes an incredible difference when adapting a book to a movie.

I’m sorry for all the other awesome stuff I forgot to mention, I’m just really excited!

So what was your favorite part? I cannot choose just one, so comment below and fangirl with me! Only four more months, you guys! We can do this!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part Two hits theaters November 20th.
