Kristin Chenoweth is one of the best-known actresses around right now and for good reason. She is a hit with fans of film and television and of course she is best known for her work in the world of musical theatre, in particular her role in a certain musical called Wicked. I personally loved her in The West Wing and Glee, but I’m sure she is amazing in everything she has been a part of. And now Chenoweth has another string in her bow; she has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actress is the 2,555th person to have been given a spot along that famous Californian strip.
The actress was presented with her star on the same day she celebrated her birthday. Speaking about the honour, Chenoweth said, “I don’t think I’ve ever had a better gift, I never thought I would have a star on the Walk of Fame so for it to happen on my birthday is very special.” She continued, “This is a memory I will have for as long as I remain on this earth.”
Carol Burnett was on hand to present the star with the honour. During the ceremony, Burnett spoke about her adoration and love for the actress. “I adore this girl. I can’t believe that all this talent can be in this teeny little package. Let me just say this… if I had my show today… I would want Kristin to be on every single week with us,” Burnett said during her speech. She then added, “Well I’m going to say I’m her number one fan. And I’m thrilled for her today, what a triple whammy, I mean the premiere tonight, the birthday, getting this honour. And it couldn’t happen to a more talented or adorable person.”
At the ceremony, Kristin was also joined by Kenny Ortega the director of the High School Musical trilogy and the new Disney film Descendants in which Kristin plays the role of Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent. And according to Variety, Chenoweth is “also embarking on a national concert tour with dates planned in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Okla., and the Walt Disney Concert Hall.”
At the moment she is currently back on Broadway doing an eight show a week run as Lily Garland in On the Twentieth Century, a role which she has garnered a Tony nomination along with winning a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her role. And now she has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! It seems that no one can stop Kristin Chenoweth, but let’s be honest, would anyone want to stop this incredibly talented woman?? Nope, I didn’t think so!
