It’s San Diego Comic Con time, and fans all over the world have been waiting anxiously to see what the panels for this year’s upcoming blockbusters are offering up. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two was one of the many panels on SDCC’s Thursday line up (and one of the ones 4YE was looking forward to seeing).
The film is the second of two parts based on the final book in the Hunger Games trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins, and the fourth and final installment in The Hunger Games film series. The film is also one of this year’s most anticipated films as it has, in the past couple of years, grown to be a worldwide phenomenon.
For the panel featured on Thursday morning, the cast and film makers were on hand to share exclusive never before seen footage and answered quite a few questions from both the audience and moderator Conan O’Brien, who makes his first visit to the convention. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields, producer Nina Jacobson, and director Francis Lawrence were the feature talent for the panel.
The panel got off to a killer start as a marching band preceded the cast’s entrances with a message from District 13 to join them. Conan O’Brien set the tone and brought the cast out shortly after, much the delight of comic goers.
The audience was treated to the first full trailer of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two, as up until now, only teasers and posters have been released.
The trailer featured Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) issue the order for all of Panem to join up and launch into the final battle against the Capitol and President Snow (Donald Sutherland) Scenes of Katniss and the crew raced across the screen as everyone prepared for battle, including a brainwashed Peeta, and a battle worn Gale (Liam Hemsworth). There were some happy moments as Finnick (Sam Claflin) dances with his bride, and Katniss and Prim (Willow Shields) dance around as well. As for the gut wrenching moment, given the response from the audience, that honor goes to Katniss and Peeta sharing a hug, which was quite heartbreaking given the way Part One ended.
The trailer has yet to be released to the public but it was promised to be released soon.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two will hit theaters on November 20, 2015.
