There is still over a year until the theater release of Suicide Squad (August 5, 2016), but there has already been a lot of talk about the movie. There has been a lot of teaser pictures shared from the filming. It feels like we should know all about the movie already, but we’re not even close.
One of the characters a lot revolves around is Jared Leto’s Joker. This isn’t very surprising given the look of his character with all the tattoos and the question to whether they were going to have him with or without Batman, which through some photos and videos from the filming site we know that he will definitely be included.
In a recent interview, MTV‘s Josh Horowitz talked with Jai Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang, about Leto’s character.
In the interview Courtney said, “I don’t think any of us are naive to the pressure he’s under. It’s not something I’ve talked about with him, but I’ve seen him working and it’s cool, man.”
After all the previous portrayals of the character of the Joker, the last being the late Heath Ledger, and the comic books, there is, no doubt, a lot of expectations from the fans about the role. I think the more he’s shown and portrayed, people will pick and choose how they prefer the character and, also no doubt, opinions will be voiced.
We don’t really know much about any of the characters other than what they look like and it will probably stay like that until the movie comes out, but I am looking forward to more news about the other characters who haven’t been revealed yet.
Despite Courtney saying he never wanted to do a comic book movie, I am glad he changed his mind.
Can’t wait until Suicide Squad for more Jai Courtney? Be sure to check him out then as Kyle Reese in the next installment in the Terminator series, Terminator Genisys, in theaters July 1.
