In an unexpected turn of events, Batman and Apocalypse will star in an epic love story.

Seriously though, Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac together on the big screen is one of those pairs I didn’t know I need, but as soon as I knew about this, my brain went like “but of course!”.

The Wrap reports that Bale and Isaac will star in The Promise, a love story to be directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) and written by George and Robin Swicord (Memoirs of a Geisha).

The story follows a love triangle between Michael (Oscar Isaac), a medical student, Chris (Christian Bale), a renowned American journalist living in Paris, and Ana. The “epic” part lies in the context, as it is set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire.

While both Michael and Chris are in love with Ana, they each are fighting an inner battle: Michael is conflicted by old-world traditions, and Chris is sort of in love with the danger of being in a combat zone in a world that is falling apart. It’s complicated, as you can see.

Production will most likely begin this fall in Southern Europe, including places such as Portugal and the Canary Islands.

There’s no word on who will play Ana, but, you know, I am available. I volunteer for the science involved in this.

We recently saw Isaac in Alex Garland’s mindblowing science fiction thriller Ex Machina. Later this year, we will see him as Poe Dameron in JJ Abram’s highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He is currently filming X-Men: Apocalypse, where he plays the villain role, En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse.

As for Bale, we last saw him in Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings alongside Joel Edgerton. We will see him later this year in Terrence Malick’s Knight of Cups. In 2017, we will have the pleasure of listening to him as Bagheera in Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book: Origins.

So many good things coming for both!

We will keep you posted on all the details that may be revealed about this movie. Meanwhile, my offer stands to play Ana. For science, of course.
