Everyone is excited to see Jared Leto’s Joker in action next year in Suicide Squad.
Actually, I would dare to say that everyone is just excited to see Suicide Squad in general. A team of villains having to save the world? Sounds awesome.
Not only does his Joker have a unique look, Leto seems to have gone method amongst his co-stars.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Adam Beach (Slipknot) talked about Leto’s on set and in character antics. Amongst things, Leto gave Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) a love letter and a live rat.
Well, a live rat was probably easier to get then hyenas, who are Harley’s pets in universe.
Beach said, “He sent her a nice love letter with a black box with a rat in it – a live rat. It was beautiful.”
Um. Yeah sure, I’ll go with beautiful gestures.
Robbie was the only one who got Joker presents from Leto.
Beach continued, “Then he sent bullets to Will [Smith] with a letter.”
In addition to this, Leto sent the whole cast a dead hog accompanied with a video, which he recorded entirely in character. I really hope we get to see said video in the bonus content for Suicide Squad.
“Basically, what he said was, ‘Guys, I can’t be there but I want you to know I’m doing my work as hard as you guys’. The video he showed is in character. It blew our minds away. Then we realized that day, this is real,” finished Beach.
Well it definitely sounds like the Suicide Squad set went all out.
Leto has had some pretty dramatic on-screen transformations, such as his Academy Award winning turn in The Dallas Buyer’s Club.
Although, I may be careful about any gifts I get from Leto, just in case the Joker wants to come out and play.
Suicide Squad will be released August 5th, 2016.
