Can He Swing From A Web? Spider-Man Confirmed In Captain America: Civil War

Yesterday, the world learned Marvel has found their new Peter Parker in Tom Holland (The Impossible).

There are a lot of mixed feelings within the fandom about this, but the big question remains: will we see him in Captain America: Civil War before his solo movie comes out in 2017?

After months of rumours, Marvel Studios executive Kevin Feige has finally confirmed that we will meet Holland as Peter Parker in Civil War.

“Holland will report immediately to the set of the currently shooting Captain America: Civil War, which Marvel has scheduled for a May 6, 2016 release and in which the newest Spider-Man will make his first appearance”, The Hollywood Reporter shared.

Holland will join an already huge cast which includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Daniel Brühl, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Martin Freeman, and many others.

Spider-Man isn’t the only superhero making his MCU debut in this film. Chadwick Boseman will be making his debut as T’Challa/Black Panther.

Marvel was very meticulous during the search of the new Spider-Man, having their candidates for the role testing with none other than Robert Downey Jr. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony Stark/Iron Man is said to share scenes with Peter Parker, which is why they wanted a young actor who had good on-screen chemistry with Robert. They also share that Holland and another contender were called for a second screen test, with Holland testing with Captain America himself.

So, there’s no way for us to know which side he will be on, supposing he will appear in full Spider-Man mode and not as Peter Parker the student (I don’t know why, but I have a feeling it will be the latter).

With Holland joining the rest of our superheroes on set in the next days, we could probably get a few pics of him either as Peter Parker or Spider-Man. Keep your eyes open!

Captain America: Civil War, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, will be released on May 6, 2016.

Spider-Man’s solo movie, directed by Jon Watts, is aiming for a July 28, 2017 release.
