Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them grows by one more cast member! Huzzah!

With Eddie Redmayne cast in the role of Newt Scamander, it is time for the rest of those empty cast slots to be filled in. And we are ready to have some names here folks. Ever since there was a hint of more films from the Potter-verse, fans have been speculating for ages about what to expect.

Wizarding. New. York. I need to know what it is like. Especially turn of the century, Wizarding New York! You can’t tell me you’re not insanely curious.

Today, we finally have some news in regards to the film’s female lead. Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) has joined Redmayne in the cast.

In keeping up with giving female characters interesting names, Rowling has named Waterston’s character Porpentina. Porpentina, who prefers to be called Tina, is a witch of the US. Scamander meets her while visiting New York.

According to Variety, two roles still need to be cast. Tina’s sister, Queenie, and Scamander’s rival, Jacob.

Warner Brothers is apparently looking for more established faces for their main cast versus the relative unknowns they had when Harry Potter began. Who knows what actors they will get for the film?

In addition to Inherent Vice; Waterston will be seen in Steve Jobs as Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ high school girlfriend and mother of his first child.

Now who knows what this all means in the grand scheme. Everyone is keeping extremely tight-lipped in regards to the production of the film. We may never know the actual plot until the film comes out.

What is known is that the story takes place about 70 years pre-Harry Potter (which takes place in the 90’s) and follows Scamander’s adventures in learning all about magiczoology.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released November 18, 2016.
