The May Upfronts for all major network television (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and the CW) continues its trek. Today, CBS has revealed their plans for the upcoming television season.
CBS, for many years, has been known as a network geared for older audiences. It isn’t a bad thing. Shows like NCIS and The Good Wife dominate in their time slots for this reason. But advertisers, which the Upfronts are geared toward, want that 18-49 demographic. By God, CBS is going to nab that demo for them.
After unveiling their Fall 2015 line-up, CBS has released their trailers for their upcoming new shows.
These shows include the highly anticipated Supergirl, the TV follow-up Limitless, the Jane Lynch led Angel From Hell, medical drama Code Black, and family comedy Life In Pieces. No word on the mid-season premieres yet, but the schedule is weird do to Thursday Night (American) Football.
So let’s take a loot at the shows shall we? Along with the trailers, there will be synopsis for each show.
Supergirl (Monday 8/9c)*
Twenty-four-year-old Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), who was taken in by the Danvers family when she was twelve after being sent away from Krypton, must learn to embrace her powers after previously hiding them. The Danvers teach her to be careful with her powers, until she has to reveal them during an unexpected disaster, setting her on her journey of heroism.
The series will also star Mehcad Brooks as James “Jimmy” Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers.
*Supergirl will premiere in November after Thursday Night (American) Football concludes.
Life In Pieces (Mondays 8:30/7:30c)*
A smart, relatable and laugh-out-loud comedy about one family—uniquely told through four separate stories each week. This warm and loveable clan, spanning three generations, finds humor in life’s everyday absurdities.
The series stars Dianne West, James Brolin, Colin Hanks, and Betsy Brandt.
*Life in Pieces will air on Mondays during Thursday Night Football. After it concludes, it will air on Thursdays 8:30/7:30c.
Limitless (Tuesdays 10/9c)
Inspired by the movie, the show is about a man who discovers a mysterious drug that allows him to access 100% of his brain and ends up using his new abilities for the greater good.
The series will star Jake McDorman, Jennifer Carpenter, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Hill Harper. Bradley Cooper will guest star on the series.
Code Black (Wednesdays 10/9c)
This intense medical drama is set in the busiest ER in the nation, where Code Black situations—when there are more patients than personnel or resources to treat them all—occur an unimaginable 300 days a year.
The series stars Marcia Gay Harden, Bonnie Somerville, Luis Guzmán, and Lindsay McKeon.
Angel From Hell (Thursdays 9:30/8:30c)*
Allison (Maggie Lawson), a dermatologist, is organized and perfect, but her life is derailed when she meets brash, outspoken Amy (Jane Lynch), who claims to be her guardian angel.
The series will also star Kevin Pollak and Liza Lapira.
*This will premiere after Thursday Night (American) Football concludes.
What do you think about CBS line-up? Personally the only one here that I’m excited for is Supergirl.
