Hey boy, whatcha doing? Apparently Schmidt is about to switch out the swanky LA loft for a hotel.
On Twitter, American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed that Max Greenfield will be joining the show’s fifth season. If his ominous message is any indication, then Greenfield’s character is not making it out alive.
So far the details on American Horror Story: Hotel have been kept under wraps. What Ryan Murphy had already teased was that all seasons are somehow connected to each other.
“There’s definitely a rhyme or a reason and a connectedness to all of these seasons, but in the same way, they’re standalones, which is the fun of it”, he said about season four’s connection to season two. “They’re all connected. We’re just beginning to tell you how they’re connected. They’re all very separate but there’s clues every season that we’re now telling you how the different worlds are intertwined.”
Speaking of clues, Murphy also said that one of the clues for season five has already been revealed on Freak Show – the coffee cup with a top hat on it. “That is a big season five clue!”, he said. “It’s an arcane clue, but it’s very purposeful, and it illuminates something that you’ll be like, “Oh! You dirty b******!”
Could the top hat be related to Greenfield’s Hotel character in any way? And does his character fit into the connectivity of previous seasons?
Max will be joining a long list of fantastic actors: Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, Chloe Sevigny, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and of course, fan favorite and special guest, Lady Gaga. In how far his character is about to interact with all of these is a mystery. Is he going to be someone’s love interest? Will he be related to one of them without even knowing? Will he be a good guy turned psycho killer? If the past four years of AHS have taught us anything it’s most likely all of the above.
Murphy promises that we will see a different side of Max Greenfield. We know him best for his role as Schmidt (no first name necessary) on FOX’s hit show New Girl. We know he has the comedy part down pat, but how about a more mysterious side? I would definitely love to see Greenfield go dark, the darker the better. We’ll have his dorky self back on New Girl next season, so I’d prefer to see him go into a different direction with AHS:Hotel. Only time will tell!
