Edgar Wright’s new project Baby Driver might have found its female lead on Cinderella herself.
Baby Driver follows a young mute man with an ear condition that forces him to listen to music all the time in order to drown out the constant ringing in his ears. He is a driver for a rotating group of bank robbers and finds himself on the run when a heist goes wrong.
The project has been previously described as a “collision of crime, action, music and sound” and thanks to the updated synopsis shared by The Hollywood Reporter we can prove that the description was accurate.
This is not Edgar’s first approach to action, crime and sound. The second installment of the “Cornetto Trilogy”, Hot Fuzz, was full of action and crime. The sound mix for the film is just perfect.
Wright is no stranger to music either; the soundtrack of Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a gem. Well, actually so are the soundtracks of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End. Music has played an important role in Wright’s previous works.
In short, it all points at Baby Driver having all those Wright-elements we love and miss. Seriously, though: we haven’t seen anything from Edgar since The World’s End in 2013. It’s about time we get our dose of greatness and visual comedy!
There’s no tentative release date for Baby Driver yet, but I hope we hear something about it soon.
As for Lily James, we recently saw her in Kenneth Branagh’s take on Cinderella. We will see her soon in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as Elizabeth Bennet.
Fingers crossed on Lily joining the cast and for more details on the movie! And fingers crossed for Simon Pegg and Nick Frost popping up in the movie as well! A girl can dream, right?
