Here is a friendly warning, this story contains spoilers for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you wish to remain spoiler free then don’t go any further.
Just a matter of weeks ago, Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon warned fans that there was to be no post-credit scene at the end of the newest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Many fans, us here at 4YE included, called foul on this thinking that Whedon was playing with our emotions yet again. Now it appears that we fans were indeed correct, as a supposed post-credit scene has been leaked online and BOY is it good.
The clip surfaced online last night, and features a window cleaner on the side of a building quietly doing his job until Spider-Man tells him, “you missed a bit!” That’s right, if this clip is genuine we have our first glimpse of Spidey’s entrance in to the MCU.
The internet is full of rumour and speculation about if the clip is real, given Whedon’s insistence that there was to be no post-credit scene. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige seemed to back Whedon up when he told EW, “There will be a tag, but there’s not a post-post-credits scene.” In the recent press screenings, the audience did see the tag Feige was discussing, however there was no sign of Spider-Man. This doesn’t necessarily mean that this leaked clip is a fake because advance screenings of Guardians of the Galaxy did not have the Howard the Duck post-credit scene which was added on general release.
So the question is, will Spider-Man really make his Marvel debut in a matter of days, or have some incredibly talented fans pulled the ultimate trick? With Marvel we can truly never know, however UK fans will be able to answer the question in mere days when Avengers: Age of Ultron is released on April 23, and US audiences will see the truth on May 1.
