Who isn’t ready for another big screen adventure starring Wolverine? Yes, just what I thought. Now while the third solo Wolverine outing is not set to hit screens until 2017, we have news about when we can expect filming to begin. And you know what that means? With the commencement of filming, we will also get photos and behind the scenes clips. Add to this the fact that star Hugh Jackman is an avid Instagrammer, we might get some glimpses into Wolverine’s form later this year as training begins in earnest to get back into shape for the immensely physical role.
Yesterday a fan took to Twitter to ask Wolverine 3’s director James Mangold when we can expect production to begin. Mangold replied, “Early next year.”
@R_0_B_89 early next year.

With Jackman already lined up to film X-Men: Apocalyse and The Greatest Showman on Earth this year, as well as be involved in the publicity for Pan, it’s no real surprise that his first available slot of time to shoot is early next year.
Not much is currently known about the plot for this film or who else, apart from Jackman, will be starring. However, in a recent interview with Oregon Live, Patrick Stewart (who stars as Professor Xavier in the franchise), hinted that he may make an appearance, saying “what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of “X-Men” from the four movies that I’ve already done.”
Please let this be true. I love the relationship between Wolverine and Professor X in the previous films and would be interested to see it developed further.
The untitled Wolverine 3 currently has a March 3, 2017 release date.
