Try not to get too excited Frozen fans, because Disney directors say they may not be making a sequel to the hit 2013 film.

There’s been growing speculation, but even after claims from star Idina Menzel (voice of Elsa), Disney have yet to confirm whether or not they actually are working on a new feature-length film to follow on from Frozen. Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck who worked on the first film are still very much denying the rumours.

Buck spoke to Buzzfeed about the confusion caused when claims would be made about a sequel that they had heard nothing about:  “It’s been in the press that we are doing [a sequel], and we would ask each other, ‘Are we? They’d have a date and they’d have a cast and it was like, ‘OK…'”

Co-directer Lee also said that they would still even need a story idea for a follow up: “Like with the short, it was so daunting until we found the story,” she said. “Until we find our way into what’s next, emotionally, it will feel too big.”

So for now, it looks like a Frozen 2 is not in the works, however, do not fear, a Frozen Broadway musical will see the return of your favourite characters, along with a short film Frozen Fever which already has a trailer out for you to watch, and will be being screened with the new re-make of Cinderella released on March 13th.

Even though Frozen Fever is not a stand-alone film as such, we’re sure it will be just as popular as the original which earned a whopping $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office, making it Disney’s most successful animated release ever. Also winning a 2014 Academy Award for Best Animated Film, we hope that with successes like these, Disney can be persuaded to give fans what they are clearly hoping for…….lots more Frozen.
