It’s been announced that both Jim Carrey and Keanu Reeves will star in an upcoming movie described as a “cannibal love story”.  Yes, you’ve read that right. Don’t panic; the two Hollywood stars are not the lead roles in this one. Suki Waterhouse and Jason Momoa have also been announced for the film, which is titled The Bad Batch.

The leads of the film will be Waterhouse, playing a young woman named Arlen  and Momoa playing Miami Man.  Waterhouse recently appeared in Insurgent, and Momoa is most well known in the role of Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. The Bad Batch also stars Diego Luna (Book of life, Elyssium).  Luna will appear as a man called Jimmy; Reeves will play The Dream, and Carrey stars as The Hermit.

Directed and written by Ana Lily Amirpour known for vampire flick A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, it tells the “love story about a cannibal known as Miami Man and his food” and takes place in a post-apocalyptic Texas wasteland.

The movie is being produced under Annapurna International’s Megan Ellison with Danny Gabai and Sina Sayyah from VICE.

We recently saw Reeves return to the big screen as bad-ass assassin John Wick, in the movie of the same name, and we will hear him narrate the documentary Deep Webb for his old Bill & Ted com-padre Alex Winter.  He is also “officially in development” to do John Wick 2.
Jim Carrey recently partnered up again with Jeff Daniels to reprise his role of Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber To.
With such a great team and really weird sounding plot, this looks set to be a great little romance for next year.  One that is sure to surprise, delight and quite possibly gross out audiences in 2016.

As yet there is no realease date as it is still in pre-production, but Annapurna Pictures and partner VICE  plan to sell the film at the Cannes Film Festival.
