They already worked in The Rover together, and now Robert Pattinson will be joining Guy Pearce again for Brimstone, a film by writer-director Martin Koolhoven which has a storyline outline perhaps not too dissimilar from ‘The Rover.’
The plot follows heroine Liz, who is the centre of the story. She’s on the run from her past, and as IMDB describes: “From the moment the new reverend climbs the pulpit, Liz knows she and her family are in great danger.”
Pattinson will be playing the role of an outlaw in the film, which is set to shoot in May of this year.
Carice Van Houten, who starred in Game Of Thrones, has also joined the cast with Pattinson, adding to a lineup that also includes Mia Wasikowska, who is known for roles in Disney’s remake of Alice In Wonderland, and the most recent adaptation of Jane Eyre. On Wasikowska, Screendaily.com quoted Embankment co-founder Tim Haslam on saying that: “Wasikowska is a powerhouse performer.” And on the director, Haslam says that “Martin directs a highly emotional, gripping and unique story of a mesmerising woman who battles the vengeance of a zealot.”
Guy Pearce, who has starred in the likes of Iron Man 3 and The Hurt Locker, plays the role of a preacher who is sure to cause some trouble when he is hunting down Wasikowska’s character.
Embankment have launched the film at Berlin’s European Film Market which has been commencing from the 5th of February, and will end on the 13th. Pattinson was in Berlin for Anton Corbijn’s Berlinale Gala ‘Life’ which had its premiere on 9th February, and also for Werner Herzog’s competition entry ‘Queen of the Desert’, in which he plays the role of T.E. Lawrence.
