Everything is still awesome!

Let’s set the past aside. We all know The Lego Movie was more than awesome and it brought a lot of happiness to our lives. It made us so happy that it grossed $468.7 million. See? Awesome indeed.

The sequel for The Lego Movie is having a new director: Rob Schrab. Schrab has previously directed episodes for Community, The Mindy Project, and Children’s Hospital.

If this is not enough proof for you that Schrab knows his way in comedy, then I got more. He was nominated for a WGA Award for his work on The Sarah Silverman Show and won an Emmy for his work as part of the team that wrote Hugh Jackman’s Academy Award opening number in 2009.

So yes: he is a wise choice to direct the Lego sequel!

The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will now serve as producers as well as Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Lord and Miller will also write the script, based on a story by them, Jared Stern, and Michelle Morgan.

Guys, this movie is going to be packed with greatness and genius!

Plot details are being kept under wraps. The only thing we can do right now is have some good old fun by making up potential storylines. Do you think Emmett finally got over his existential crisis? I really hope so.

This sequel is not the only upcoming project from the Lego empire. Other projects are a Ninjago movie is scheduled for September 23, 2016 and a Lego Batman for May 2017. I don’t really know much about Ninjago, other than the big Lego constructions my sister has in her collection, but Lego Batman? That I am excited about!

Have you played the Lego Batman video-game? It’s really fun seeing all Batman villains in Lego form. I can’t wait to see the movie!

The Lego Movie Sequel (yeah, that’s the title) doesn’t have an official date yet but the studio is looking for a 2018 release.

We are going to have to wait a long time before we get “Everything is Still Awesome” (come on, I know I’m not the only one who has thought of that!) but it will be worth it! Just look at the incredible production crew to reassure yourself it will be.
