What Will Be Sung In Glee’s “Transitioning” Seventh Episode?

We are being spoilt with Glee song spoilers in recent days. First we had the songs for “What The World Needs Now” and now we have the songs for episode seven, “Transitioning“.

As we know from the episode summary, this episode reintroduces Coach Beiste, who is now Sheldon; and sees the return of Alex Newell’s Unique. We will also be meeting a transperson choir and I can’t wait to hear that performance.

There has been no confirmation of who will be singing what in this episode.

It is believed that Alex Newell will be taking lead on “I Know Where I’ve Been.”  It is also rumoured that Klaine will be singing the Betty Who song “Somebody Loves You.” If true, then this will have made Chris Colfer and Darren Criss very happy as both are big fans of the singer. Another rumored pairing is Sam and Rachel singing “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper.

So let’s see what songs we have to look forward to, and there are a couple of real favorites of mine in this list.

“You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi

Oh the excitement this has caused here at 4YE Towers. We love Bon Jovi and this is one of the best Bon Jovi songs out there, and there are a lot.  We know Glee has the potential to do this well.

Remember the season two mashup of The Rolling Stones “Start Me Up” and “Livin on a Prayer”?

“Same Love” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

The only thing that has shocked me about this song, is that Glee haven’t done this before. This song was released in 2012. It became the unofficial anthem for supporters in the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Given the turn that this season has taken, the song’s inclusion makes total sense. I sense a group number for this.

“All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor

There is no shock that Glee is using this song, it was the one of THE songs of 2014. It is super catchy. You can’t help but sing along.

“Somebody Loves You” by Betty Who

Before I listened to this song for this piece, I will admit although I had seen the name, I had never listened to any Betty Who songs. However, after listening to this song, I think that will change. Another song choice that makes us remember when the song choice is good, Glee can still be amazing.  If this is done as a Klaine duet, it will be interesting to see how Adam Anders and his team have adjusted it for Colfer and Criss.

Time After Time  by Cyndi Lauper

This song has been on my Glee wishlist for the last 5 seasons. Cyndi Lauper is one of my favourite female singers ever, and I always wonder why she never became bigger than she has. This is a hauntingly beautiful ballad, and I really wish that this was going to be given to Klaine.

“I Know Where I’ve Been” from Hairspray The Musical performed by Unique Adams and the Transperson Choir

This song is a real anthem for acceptance and a push towards equality. It is super fitting that this will be sung by Alex Newell and the Transperson Choir.

Are there any songs which you are really looking forward to, or any you are dreading?

“Transitioning” will air on Fox at 9/8C February 13.

  1. Great article and lovely song list!! I, too, hope “Somebody Loves You” is for Colfer and Criss; it’ll be interesting to see the final arrangement, but well worth it, if it works. Great comments on the songs & I’m very much looking forward to hearing them. Thank you.
