The sixth season of Glee is getting into full swing, and while in many ways we are all ready to say goodbye, this season is also flying by, as is evidenced by the fact that new stills from 6×06 have been released today. The episode will air on February 6th, and that means we will be halfway through. Excuse me a moment, I have something in my eye.
SPOILERS AHEAD! If you don’t want to know what happens in the episode then now is the time to run for the hills!
The extended summary for the episode reads as follows:
“As Brittany and Santana plan their wedding, Artie is recruited to be the wedding planner. While Santana struggles with the fact that her disapproving grandmother – with whom she hasn’t spoken since coming out as a lesbian – refuses to attend, Brittany takes matters into her own hands.
Fresh off their unexpected win at Sue’s Show Choir Invitational, Rachel and Kurt give the gleeks their weekly assignment: the music of Burt Bacharach, and recruit reigning diva Mercedes to act as a mentor for the new singers. While Mercedes is supportive of Rachel’s new career path, she is committed to convincing her to not abandon her dreams of something bigger and better… namely Broadway. To that end, she tells Rachel she’s arranged an audition for her for a new, upcoming Broadway musical, and tries to inspire a resistant and gun-shy Rachel to take another shot at her dreams of stardom.
Meanwhile, despite agreeing to stay just friends, Rachel and Sam try to negotiate bigger feelings they may or may not have for each other, but it takes the advice of an interested third party to move things along; and Brittany learns a shocking family secret, including the origins of her remarkable mathematical prowess.”
Unsurprisingly, I have a lot to say about this. Firstly, Glee has shown some continuity, which is astounding, in revisiting the storyline with Santana and her Abuela. Right now, after the attack on Kurt in 6×03, Santana has to do a lot to in order to redeem herself to me. She’s always been one of my favourite characters until that outburst and so I am hoping she softens, and it will be great to see Naya Rivera hopefully showing Santana’s vulnerability. I am just hoping Brittany’s attempt to help involves talking to her Abuela and not doing something ridiculous. The music of Burt Bacharach will be more than welcome, as will Mercedes acting as mentor. Goodness knows why she wants to help Rachel back to Broadway; maybe it’s so she can get her away from Sam? Talking of which, I know I am the only person in the entire world who doesn’t ship Samcedes and wants Samchel to happen, so therefore it figures that I am perfectly happy with knowing they’re at least toying with the idea of having feelings for each other.
There is a noticeable omission from the summary; not one word is written about Klaine. Are they back together by this point or not? Well, I might live to regret this, but I’ve pretty much decided that they must be, because otherwise we would have known more about their part in the episode, right? And look at the stills! They’re sharing the same stage and they look pretty happy in each other’s company. Yes Kurt, we can all see you watching your beau in that group hug. We don’t blame you.
In short, from this Friday’s episode onwards (6×04 “The Hurt Locker Part One”) I am officially starting to get excited for Klaine again.
P.S- Check out this picture of Blaine and Rachel. Are we completely sure they’re not siblings?
