The Avengers Get An Upgrade: Anthony Mackie Shares Deets About ‘Civil War’

One of the most wonderful people that have happened to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Anthony Mackie, aka Sam Wilson/Falcon.

It’s not only that Mackie is the perfect Falcon, but he is also a cool guy  off-screen. He is so cool that he recently shared that Captain America: Civil War will start shooting in April (on set pics, guys!), and we obviously went wild with excitement.

Now Mackie has spoken a bit about what we can expect in Cap’s third and, sadly, last solo film. Well, not so “solo”, as he will be joined by Falcon, Iron Man, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, and it was recently confirmed that our queen Black Widow will join the action. If only we could get some word on whether Hawkeye will be there or not…

Anyway, Mackie is still on promo tour for his latest drama Black or White, and in a visit to WTTG Fox 5 he shared some information on his return to the MCU as the Falcon.

“It’s so amazing to be a part of the Marvel Universe. It’s so rare that you go into a movie, and you know the movie is gonna be good. And Marvel does not settle for mediocre on any of their movies. And that is what’s so great. You can go as far as you want because you know they are going to make it look good”, Mackie said.

True. Even their not-so-good movies are still enjoyable. It’s the Marvel magic.

Mackie also reiterated that the Falcon is getting a new suit and a new set of wings. I mean, we wouldn’t expect less after their wings were destroyed in Captain America: Winter Soldier! And it’s fair because Cap gets a new look in every movie. Show the Falcon some love too!

“I have a brand new costume; I’m full in effect. I will tell you this: Cap 3 is gonna be everything you can imagine. Cap 2 was really Avengers 1.5 and Cap 3 is gonna be Avengers 3.8”, Mackie shared.

You’ve shown me the light, Mackie! It’s true: Winter Soldier feels like a sort of extension of Avengers, with SHIELD going down and HYDRA being exposed. And all the Bucky/Steve feels… let’s go back to Mackie, shall we?

He was asked about the possibility of him taking Cap’s place in a not-so-far future, just like Falcon recently did in the comics, but he is enjoying every minute of his time as the Falcon.

“My thing is, I’ve done one of these movies. I love working with Chris [Evans], he’s one of my closest friends. So, as long as it’s me and Chris playing Falcon and Cap, I’m all cool with being Falcon”.

We love you, Mackie.

Captain America: Civil War, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, will be out on May 6, 2016.
