“Step by Step” We Chase “Waterfalls” But It’s Only “Just A Dream”: DJ Earworm’s Main Event Tour Mashup

What could possibly be better than the news this week that New Kids On The Block is teaming up with TLC and Nelly for a series of concerts this summer? Not much I know, but this is definitely up there, especially for those outside the US and Canada who can’t get to one of the 40+ cities The Main Event tour will hit up this summer.

In honour of this epic 90s nostalgia tour, DJ Earworm has released a little mix of all three artists’ best hits, and as a teenager in the 90s, this certainly doesn’t disappoint.

We’ve got TLC’s “Waterfalls” and “No Scrubs,” Nelly’s “Just A Dream” and “Hot in Herre,” and a NKOTB mix isn’t complete without “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “Step by Step.” Just ponder that for a moment, then once you’ve conjured up the best mashup you can imagine, click on the video below and prepare to be blown away.

Ah those classic dance moves and oh so classy looks. Yeah, thankfully we’ve moved on from that craze.

NKOTB were joined by TLC to announce the tour on this Tuesday’s Good Morning America. NKOTB band member Joey McIntyre described the concert as “one big, huge, massive party.” Bringing all their hits and performing on a 360° stage, you will be able to be up close and personal with the performers, and they with you.

NKOTB was the first ever gig that I went to all the way back in 92 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and I’m still annoyed that lack of funds meant I couldn’t attend the NKOTB/Backstreet Boys concert. Though a few years have passed since that 92 gig, everything I’ve seen and heard from the “kids” since then has shown that they have managed to still maintain that joy, enthusiasm, and quite a bit of the energy of their early career. This will no doubt be one of the big tours of the summer. For those of us unable to go, we’ll just have to keep playing DJ Earworm’s mashup on repeat and dream of what might have been.

Tickets for The Main Event go on general sale January 31. The tour kicks off on May 1 in Vegas, and runs until July 2 in Buffalo, NY. The full list of concert dates can be found here.
