It’s Shonda Rhimes’ World And We All Just Live In It: ABC Orders New Rhimes Pilot

There’s more fantastic news for Shondaland fans; not only is TGIT back on Thursdays (yay!) but ABC has picked up a pilot from Shonda Rhimes for next year. That could mean four – yes four – Shondaland shows on ABC at once. Our cup really, really runneth over.

According to Variety, The Catch “follows a female forensic accountant whose career specialty is exposing fraud for a living…the sure-to-be fierce woman at the forefront of the crime thriller is not all she appears to be and has a tumultuous love life. She’s about to get married, but also about to get conned by her fiancé – little does he know, her lies end up colliding with his cons”.

I don’t know about you but The Catch sounds pretty awesome, and I am very happy that, yet again, the show lead is a female. Television needs many, many more strong female roles, a là Annalise Keating, and it looks like Rhimes is the one to give them to us.

Julie Anne Robinson (Scandal) and Jennifer Schuur (Hannibal) will join Rhimes as executive producers, with Helen Gregory (Agatha Raisin: The Quiche Of Death) and Kate Atkinson (Case Histories) will produce. Schuur will also write.

There is no casting news yet, but I am really looking forward to which actress is going to join Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington and Viola Davis as Shondaland’s leading ladies. There is usually a bit of trepidation with every pilot, even if it is from a producer with a great record, but I have to say that anything from the Shondaland stable is guaranteed to be well-written, exciting, intriguing…just absolutely a must-see. There is nothing Rhimes, nor her shows, cannot do.

Don’t miss Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder on ABC Thursdays and, because we’re awesome like that, 4YE is recapping them all just for you.
