The official synopsis for the Fantastic Four reboot has been revealed.
If you were wondering which direction the film will take, this might solve your doubts, according to Fox’s official release:
“THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.”
Ok, am I the only one who is not getting anything new from this? It’s somehow what I was expecting, and I don’t really see anything that can give away important details.
The one thing that I see different is the origin: the original story is about an exposure to cosmic rays, while this one is about alternate universes.
Nerdist.com suggest the film could follow the storyline from Ultimate Fantastic Four, where the team is younger and they gain their powers after being trapped by a malfunctioning teleporter and sent to an alternate universe, where they gain those peculiar superpowers.
It makes sense, and it would be the best decision Fox could take: the original story didn’t work quite well; the reboot is their chance to make things right with a younger cast.
Still, I must confess I’m not totally convinced with this film as the first two were quite disappointing (the second one more than the first), but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt just because this superhero boom has been giving us many incredible films so far.
What do you think of this synopsis? Are you excited for this film?
