Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts Skull Island is gaining moment with announcements of new casting, new release and some other teaser tidbits, as it’s star Tom Hiddleston wraps another project – the Hank Williams biopic I Saw The Light.

Kong:Skull Island has had its release date moved. It was announced this week and fans will have to endure a wait until 2017; although that was a rather tactical move to avoid having to complete with Dr. Strange, and who can blame them.

Spiderman‘s JK Simmons is now on board for the movie as well, and given the majority of his roles are scary and grumpy fellows, particularly the iconic Jonah J Jameson, Editor in Chief of the Daily Bugle I’m eagerly awaiting to see which type he will play. While we did begin to see a softer side to the 59 year old actor who hails from Detroit, his latest role as band leader Fletcher in the movie Whiplash had me wide eyed in horror; as I watched it as a mother and an educator. His approach was sickening to me and he played the role brilliantly.

As yet no information is available as to what roles either Hiddleston or Simmons will take on, but you can be sure as more and more information comes to hand on the project from the team at Legendary Pictures here at 4YE we will follow it up.

While we do know it is going to be a prequel/origin tale set on the monster filled Skull Island, the synopsis officially released by Legendary is as follows: Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla), Kong: Skull Island will fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.

With the screenplay by Oscar nominated John Gatins being revamped from an earlier edition by Max Borenstein, the project has yet to reveal much more about who else will appear alongside Hiddleston and Simmons, when it will start filming or all the other juicy snippets fans want to know, but you can be sure I am all over it when it does come to hand.
