What?! No apology needed, at least not for me! After dominating the ENTIRE WORLD (sorry, my entire world) for a year, the director of Frozen, Jennifer Lee, has said she now apologises to everyone for the monumental impact the songs from the movie have made.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for their Women in Entertainment issue, Lee explained that “A year ago, I’d meet people who, when they found out who I was, they’d say, ‘Oh, we love the songs! We sing them all the time.’ Now they’re like, ‘Yep, we’re still listening to those songs.’ I’ve gone from, ‘Thank you,’ to, ‘Sorry!’ ”
Frozen has become the highest grossing animated film of all time, earning $1.27 billion at the box office, and I couldn’t even begin to guess how much Disney have made from the merchandise. All I do know is this; Frozen fever is everywhere, not just among children, and it shows no sign of slowing.
I also have it on very good authority that Santa will be delivering a large amount of said Frozen merchandise to our house very soon, and Elsa is booked to appear at our son’s 5th Birthday in January.
I know it’s not for everybody, but I adore the Disney magic. I love that Frozen brings a happy escape and I adore the songs from the movie. To be fair, I did remove the soundtrack from the car for a little while because after nine months of continuous play I did feel it might be time for a change, particularly given that at the time it was the height of summer and we touring France, but it’s firmly back in place now.
Please don’t apologise, Ms Lee. Your movie is a wonderful classic which has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of little children; be proud of what you have achieved.
