We already knew it, but it’s always good to hear it from the actor himself.
Frank Grillo is most likely coming back to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War, reprising his role as Brock Rumlow aka Crossbones.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grillo shared that Marvel contacted him for the third Captain America film.
“[Winter Soldier] was only a taste of what’s to come with the next film, and I couldn’t be more humbled and excited. They just kind of called and said ‘what kind of shape are you in? We’re going to need a body scan’. They can scan your body so that whatever you wear fits you like a glove”, Grillo said.
Although we only got like 20 minutes of Rumlow’s badassery in Winter Soldier, it was enough to make all Marvelites anxious to see more of him. Thankfully, Grillo loves being Crossbones.
“He’s a badass. He is just vicious. I like the idea that it’s no holds barred. I was 15 pounds bigger when I did Cap 2, and I’ll put another 15 pounds on to do Cap 3. I love the physicality. It changes the way you look; it changes the way you feel. We all know what Crossbones represents in his world, so when they called me and said we gotta do the body scan, I was like ‘okay’!” Grillo said.
Boy, do we know what he represents! In short, and to those who are not familiar with it, Crossbones is an important character in Civil War. With the help of a hypnotized Sharon Carter, he killed Captain America while he was in prison after the events on Civil War.
Oh, the feels!
Don’t worry, guys: remember the movies haven’t been a carbon copy of the comics, so Cap might be ok after all.
Grillo also spoke about the casting additions of Robert Downey Jr and Chadwick Boseman, our very first Black Panther.
“It’s going to be fun. I hear Iron Man is in Captain America 3 – he’s got a big role – and the Black Panther. It sounds like this Civil War is going to be pretty interesting”.
How can a movie that hasn’t even started filming cause me so many feels?! Sometimes I wish I wasn’t familiar with the stories, maybe that would ease the feels a little bit. Still, at the same time, it makes me even more excited! Marvel has definitely turned me into a big emotional mess.
