The MTV European Music Awards were held on Sunday November 9, hosted by Nicki Minaj. I really wish I could have actually watched the show because I always do love to watch the performances. Most of the winners didn’t really surprise me, though there were a few that did, and a couple that made me extremely happy.

The night’s big winners were One Direction (Best Live, Best Pop, Biggest Fans), Ariana Grande (Best Song, Best Female), and 5 Seconds to Summer (Best New, Best Push). With how popular these acts have been this past year, these wins didn’t surprise me.

The other winners included:

Katy Perry for Best Look and Best Video,
Calvin Harris for Best Electronic,
Nicki Minaj for Best Hip Hop,
Beyonce for Best Song with a Message,
Enrique Iglesias for Best World Stage
Justin Bieber for Best Male
Bibi Zhou for Worldwide Act
And Ozzy Osbourne took Global Icon

Now I’m not really a much of a fan of these artists so I can’t really say whether I was excited or not to see them win, but the one that shocked me the most was Justin Bieber winning Best Male. My opinions about him and his music aside (because we don’t have all day), I thought Pharrell Williams should have won. But, honestly, I would have been happy with any other male artist winning over him.

The real excitement for me was Linkin Park winning Best Rock and Thirty Seconds to Mars winning Best Alternative. All of my voting paid off for once, as well as all the tweets and advertisements both bands posted over the past few weeks since the nominations were announced. Those who know me know that they are my two favorite bands. They don’t really seem to get much recognition at other award shows, so when they win it makes me want to dance.
