The end is where it begins, or it is according to Broadchurch, anyway. In two ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ trailers that aired Sunday night during the X Factor, the team behind Broadchurch gave us our first teaser trailers for the second series.

Tease is the right word, because at just 20 seconds long each, the trailers gave away nothing at all. Each one is a shot panning over coastline, the second one with the cliffs where Danny Latimer fell to his death at the start of series one.

“The End Is Where It Begins,” then appears before fading to black and… well… that’s it.

We know barely anything about series two of Broadchurch, and despite it filming on my doorstep I’ve been unable to uncover anything worthy of note at all. The scripts are being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know slightly more about the casting.

David Tennant and Olivia Colman will both return to lead the cast as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller respectively, and Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Arthur Darvill also return.

Joining them for series two are Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Meera Syal, Eve Myles and James D’Arcy. The series is expected to air in early 2015, but there is currently no date set.

The storyline is unlikely to centre on the Latimer family once more, they’ve been through enough traumas for one thing, and that case was firmly closed, so could another murder rock the quiet seaside town?

David Tennant is currently busy appearing in the US Broadchurch remake, Gracepoint, as Detective Emmet Carver opposite Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad. That series will reportedly air “on an ITV channel” at some point soon. I hope so, because despite the mixed reviews, I really want to watch it to note the similarities and also differences in the two shows.

Watch the two teasers below.
