Lyndsy Fonseca has been announced by Marvel as the last member of the cast of the highly anticipated TV show Agent Carter.
The gorgeous Fonseca will take on the role of Angie Martinelli, an aspiring actress who befriends title character Agent Peggie Carter (played by Hayley Atwell), and who is also struggling to find her place as a woman in the post-war world.
“‘Marvel’s Agent Carter’ opens up an exciting world of new characters for us,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Lyndsy brings a warmth and humanity to Angie, who’ll be the friend Peggy needs if she’s to survive the dangers that lie ahead.”
I think this is a really exciting casting and character addition, and it will be fun to see a different perspective and lifestyle other than that of a secret agent!
Fonseca is best known for roles in Nikita, Kick Ass, and as Ted’s daughter in How I Met Your Mother, and joins an all-star cast featuring Atwell, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, James D’Arcy and Shea Whigham.
The now complete Agent Carter cast have recently begun filming, as revealed by Chad Michael Murray’s twitter account, and will hit out TV screens in 2015, taking Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’s timeslot during the midseason winter hiatus.
Set in 1946, Agent Carter finds Peggy dealt a serious blow, marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR, she must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, reprising his Captain America role), all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, having lost the love of her life, Steve Rogers.
