It seems as though ITV were very keen to quash recent tabloid rumours that cast doubt over presenter Jonathan Ross’ future at the channel; he has just signed a deal which will keep him at ITV until at least the end of 2015.

As part of the deal, Ross will record two new series of The Jonathan Ross Show as well as a Christmas special next year.

Speaking about the contract, Ross said “I’ve been lucky enough to interview some of the biggest stars around on The Jonathan Ross Show and I’m delighted that I’ll continue to do so for ITV until at least the end of 2015 with two series booked for the channel for next year.

“This Saturday I have Russell Brand, Lindsay Lohan, Daniel Radcliffe and Rio Ferdinand on the couch and there’s plenty more to come.”

Director of Entertainment for ITV, Elaine Bedell added: “Jonathan is the king of talk shows and a valued member of the ITV family. He continues to attract the biggest names in showbiz onto his sofa and I am delighted that he will remain on the channel until at least the end of 2015.”

Jonathan Ross joined ITV in 2011, in a big budget move from the BBC where he had previously hosted Friday Night With Jonathan Ross  from 2001 to 2010. His ITV show follows the same format, and although I am perhaps not such an avid viewer as I was, it is still a show I enjoy.

Ross has a real knack for interviewing celebrities and finding out what we want to know, yet still making them feel as if they’re having an evening round their mate’s house. Justin Timberlake playing drunk golf is still one of my favourite moments ever, and Ross also conducted a thoughtful and sensitive interview with Tom Daley after he decided to come out. Both clips can be viewed below.
