The time has come.
After going through a bunch of submissions for the contest YouTube House of Horrors: A Legendary Halloween, Guillermo del Toro and Legendary have now chosen the finalists.
All shorts were filmed on sets with the style of Del Toro’s next horror film Crimson Peak in YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York. If that’s not awesome enough, five lucky contestants received creative consultation from Del Toro himself. I’m not hyperventilating, you are.
Guillermo del Toro and Legendary Films have chosen the final five, and from this group of talented people will come a winner, who will receive consultation from Del Toro and funding from Legendary to turn the short into a feature-length film. Pretty much everything I could have dreamed of, to be quite honest.
The list of finalists is quite interesting, though; there’s a musical (Internet Trolls, by Vijay Nazareth), one I honestly don’t understand why it made it to the final list ( [I don’t know if you’d consider appropriate to mention the short film but here it is] What Terrifies 20-Somethings on Halloween, by Paul Gale), and others that really seized the chance and made something scary (Dinner, by the brothers Riedell).
My favourites are The Passing, by John Wynn and Dinner. That’s quality right there, guys.
If you want to watch the shorts that made it to the final list, you can go here.
It’s truly heart-warming seeing that there’s talent out there that can make horror stories with good plots and without cheap scares.
Congratulations to the finalists and good luck!
