Dance Shoes At The Ready: Strictly Week 5 Song and Dance List Revealed

Strictly Week 5 Song and Dance List Revealed

Happy Thursday, Strictly friends! It’s that time of the week when we laugh, cry and generally express completely OTT emotions over this week’s song and dance choices, now fair warning: SPOLIERS LIE AHEAD, and if you do choose to read on, there are some real crackers…

Alison and Aljaz: Dancing the Tango to “Addicted to You” by Avicii

Credit: BBC

Hmm, I have mixed feelings here. I think Alison will act the dance well, but I’m not sure how well she will actually fare with the steps.

Caroline and Pasha: Dancing the Paso Doble to “Live and Let Die” by Paul McCartney and Wings

Credit: BBC

Oh, this will be sensational for sure. Caroline is absolutely flying in this competition and I have a feeling the Paso will really suit her.

Frankie and Kevin: Dancing the Foxtrot to “Daydream Believer” by the Monkees

Again, this is bound to be a wonderful dance. Frankie and Kevin are wonderful to watch, and I am very close to calling it as Caroline and Frankie in the final.

Jake and Janette: Dancing the Quickstep to “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John

You see, I say I’m close to calling it but then there’s Jake. Gosh that man works so hard and I love his ballroom dances.

Judy and Anton: Dancing the Charleston to “Varsity Drag” by Pasedena Roof Orchestra

Yes, you read it right. Judy Murray is dancing the Charleston. Make it stop, please.

Mark and Karen: Dancing the Samba to “That’s the Way I Like It” by K.C and the Sunshine Band

Being in the dance off helped Simon enormously, but I don’t think it will have had the same effect on Mark. I think his confidence will have taken a knock, and I’m not entirely sure that the Samba is the dance for him to make a comeback.

Pixie and Trent: Dancing the Samba to “I Yi Yi Yi Yi” by Edmundo Ross

I think Pixie might suit this fun Latin dance, and it’s a great (though hideous) song choice.

Scott and Joanne: Dancing the Charleston to “Flash bang Wallop” by Tommy Steele

Credit: BBC

A great choice of song for a Charleston; even better if you can actually dance it, of course.

Simon and Kristina: Dancing the Viennese Waltz to “Somebody to Love” by Queen

Credit: BBC

I always love the Viennese Waltzes because it’s such an elegant and sophisticated dance but fiendishly difficult to master. I think Simon could do well if he really applies himself.

Steve and Ola: Dancing the Waltz to “I Wonder Why” by Curtis Stigers

Credit: BBC

TUNE! I adore this song, and I’m hoping Steve continues to improve this week and manages to deliver a beautiful waltz.

Sunetra and Brendan: Dancing the Viennese Waltz to “Anyone Who Had a Heart” by Cilla Black

Credit: BBC

I’m tempted to say ‘who cares?’ but that would be wholly unprofessional. Sunetra and Brendan will….ah, who cares?

Thom and Iveta: Dancing the Cha Cha to “It’s My Party” by Jessie J

Creit: BBC

Thom is another who continues to improve, and he also surprises me with how eagerly he enters into the dance, he’s not stiff and awkward as I thought he might be. I’m actually looking forward to his Cha Cha. (Not a euphemism.)

So there we have it. What do we think, dear friends? My money is on Frankie or Caroline topping the leader board this week, but we shall have to wait and see. Join me here on 4YE for my Strictly recap!
